Design and art direction

Caspar Kauffeldt (1773) was a Norwegian industrialist of German descent. In 1807 he founded the glass factory Gjøvig Glassverk on the other side of the river Hunnselva, creating an industrial environment and laying the grounds for the city of Gjøvik. The factory became known for its blue vases, basing the color on cobalt blue from Blaafarveverket and thereafter named "Gjøvik blue". In making the profile for the 'new Gjøvik Glassverk' there was therefor no doubt in keeping the cobolt blue. This way we could keep the history and still be modern and approach new and younger customers. Instead of focusing on all the different products, we chose to use only a few blue products in the release campaign.

In looking ahead to new audiences we wanted this identity to be distinct and bold. As well as we wanted Caspar Kauffeldts brand image to reflect creativity and quality.

Concept idea, Art Direction, Graphic Design & styling: by DesignRanch.

With the styling I teamed up with linedammen.no. Photos were taken by Sturla Bakken.
